A Birthday to Remember!

I had the amazing opportunity to spend my birthday on a pilgrimage to Arizona for the Wright Sacred Travel trip, and all I can say is that it has been a wonderful day. Every aspect of the day was special in its own way.

We started the day by attending an interfaith church service. One of the questions that the service raised was the concept of our “life function.” From church, we drove out into the high desert, where we hiked in Walnut Creek Canyon and the Petrified Forest National Park. As I kept on thinking about life function and purpose, the beauty of the scenery created many “pinch me” moments.

Tonight, we drove to our hotel as the most amazing sunset faded behind the hills. Surrounded by the vast deserts and the amazing red rock mountains of Arizona, I am coming to my own definition of my life’s purpose. I believe that the “more Margaret” I am—that is, the more I show up as my most authentic self, owning the natural talents and gifts I was born with—the more I’m living “on purpose.” And that is a lovely gift to give myself. Today, all the pilgrims traveling with me offered me visions for the person they see me becoming. I felt love and an openness to learning what’s next for me. I highly recommend a birthday pilgrimage!
